A Surprising Find in the Archives from 1969

Original Registration of The Irish Brokers Association at our Original Office in Elphin

Last year as part of celebrating our 60th Year we put an editorial in Irish Broker magazine. Soon after we received a lovely letter from insurance industry stalwart, Mr. Joe Flood of Mount Merrion in Dublin who has long since retired but had been instrumental in the original foundation of the professional broking association of IBA, which is now Brokers Ireland. When Joe saw our article, he commenced a seach of his old file boxes as he remembered Joe Bradys involvement in the very early days with him. In the letter he recalled that in the 1960's himself, Joe Brady and others decided to bring together two other associations to create one national body or IBA. They founded it and it has subsequently evolved, merged again to be Brokers Ireland.

The document pictured shows that the first registered business address was Main Street, Elphin, Co. Roscommon; which was the original location of Brady Insurance and from where we grew. What a nice memoir for us to have and how coincidentally it was found!

Brady Insurance are one of the oldest independent brokerages in Ireland and our proud history of serving both our local area and nationally goes back years.

So here's to Joe Flood, Joe Brady (our founder) and all the other great people who brought great professionalism and character to our industry! WIthout them and the work of the people that followed them, we would not have the thriving broking industry that we have today.

As brokers we exist to serve our clients, and in an increasingly complex world of risk, stretched budgets and time poor clients we hope the consumer can continue to have faith in their broker, 60 years and counting, our committment to being the advocate of our clients is still as strong as it was in 1959!
